Wizard’s First Rule: The Spell of Control and How to Break It

October 25, 20257 min read

THE POWER OF BELIEF AND CONTROL

People will believe a lie because they want to believe it’s true, or because they are afraid it might be true.” – Terry Goodkind

Terry Goodkind’s Wizard’s First Rule is more than fantasy. It’s a mirror held up to human nature — a lesson about how fear and desire can enslave entire nations without a single weapon drawn.
In the book, illusion and deception are the wizard’s greatest tools. In our world, they take the form of propaganda, political systems, corporate law, and financial dependency.

The truth is this: the same rule that enslaved Goodkind’s fictional world has been used to control ours. Through fear and belief, the people have been taught to obey, to pay, and to comply — all in service of a system that feeds on their consent.

This is the heart of PayNoMoreTax.com and the education we share about UNA (Unincorporated Nonprofit Associations) and ROE (Revocation of Election) — lawful remedies that restore the living man and woman to private standing, outside the jurisdiction of corporations and the District of Columbia.

The Wizard’s Rule in Modern Form

Goodkind’s Wizard’s First Rule reveals how easy it is to control people through belief. If they want to believe, or if they fear what may happen if they don’t, they become prisoners of the illusion.

That same principle governs modern society.
People believe that:

  • Taxes are mandatory for all.

  • The government is the highest authority.

  • The “United States” and the “American Republic” are the same.

  • Freedom means permission granted by the state.

Each of these beliefs is a spell.
Each is sustained not by law, but by consent — the belief that the government’s corporate statutes apply to the living man or woman.

Under [28 U.S.C. § 3002(15)], the term “United States” is defined as a federal corporation, headquartered in the District of Columbia.

Corporations cannot govern living men and women — only their own members, employees, and officers. Yet most Americans have, unknowingly, signed themselves into that jurisdiction through contracts, tax forms, and voter registrations.

The Wizard’s Rule has been weaponized through paperwork.

The Corporate Spell: Jurisdiction by Consent

A government corporation operates under commercial law, not natural law.

When you sign a W-4, 1040, driver’s license, or voter registration, you create an adhesion contract — an agreement to operate as a “person” or “U.S. citizen” within that corporate jurisdiction.

But in truth, the living man is not bound to the District of Columbia or its codes.
Under Public Law 73-10 (House Joint Resolution 192, June 5, 1933), all public debts were discharged. Yet, through illusion, the system continues to demand payment — not in substance, but in perpetual obligation.

This is how belief replaces law. Men and women consent to their own bondage, mistaking corporate rules for constitutional law.

The Lawful Remedy: UNA and ROE

The way out of this illusion is not rebellion — it is revocation.
Through UNA and ROE, individuals can lawfully reclaim their private status and restore jurisdiction to the people.

1. UNA (Unincorporated Nonprofit Association)

Under the First Amendment, “the right of the people peaceably to assemble” is a natural, unalienable right. An Unincorporated Nonprofit Association allows private men and women to organize lawfully outside corporate control, without filing as a state franchise.

The UNA operates in the private domain, governed by common law and the Constitution, not corporate statutes.

2. ROE (Revocation of Election)

The Revocation of Election is a formal notice to the IRS and corporate agencies that you revoke your voluntary election to be treated as a “taxpayer” or “U.S. citizen.”
Under 26 U.S.C. § 7701(a)(31), the tax code itself acknowledges that not all individuals fall under federal jurisdiction.

By revoking the election, you declare that:

  • You are a non-federal, non-corporate, non-resident entity.

  • Your labor and property are private.

  • You no longer volunteer as surety for corporate debt.

This process lawfully removes the living man or woman from the artificial jurisdiction of the District of Columbia and restores them under the jurisdiction of Natural Law, Common Law, and the Constitution for the United States of America.

Public Law and the Power of Oversight

The Constitution is not a document of permission — it is a restriction on government.
Under the Tenth Amendment, powers not delegated to the United States are reserved to the States and to the People.

When the people fail to exercise that power, bureaucracy fills the vacuum.
That is how the Republic was replaced by a democracy — not by law, but by our silence.

Key Public Laws Supporting the Restoration of Jurisdiction:

  • [Public Law 79-404] – Administrative Procedure Act (1946): ensures government decisions must rest on substantial evidence, not arbitrary or baseless action.

  • [Public Law 97-280] – Recognizes the Bible as the Word of God and affirms moral law as the foundation of public life.

  • [Public Law 73-10] – Declares that all obligations of the United States are paid; no lawful debt remains for citizens to discharge.

Each of these public laws exposes the illusion — the Wizard’s Rule in legal form.
The government governs only by consent; revoke that consent, and the illusion collapses.

Breaking the Spell

The first step in breaking the Wizard’s Rule is awareness.
Control cannot exist without belief. The moment you recognize the deception, it loses its hold.

The second step is lawful action — reclaiming your private standing through UNA and ROE, and operating in the private rather than the corporate public.

This is not rebellion against government; it is the lawful restoration of republican self-governance, where each man and woman holds responsibility for their own affairs.

Like Richard Rahl in Wizard’s First Rule, the key is to see through the illusion and act on truth — even when it’s uncomfortable.

The Constitution as the Shield

Every lawful act of restoration must anchor itself to the Constitution and Public Law.

The corporate statutes of the District of Columbia cannot override these rights.
The Constitution is the supreme law of the land, and no corporate fiction can supersede it.

From Fiction to Freedom

In Goodkind’s story, the people remained enslaved until they learned the truth about their oppressors.
The same applies today.
The corporate world thrives on fear and ignorance — convincing people that they are powerless, dependent, and obligated to serve a system designed for profit, not freedom.

But through knowledge, private organization (UNA), and lawful revocation (ROE), we awaken from that illusion.

The truth is simple:
You were never the debtor.
You were never the servant.
You are the creditor — the living man, the lawful authority, and the cornerstone of the Republic.

Conclusion – The End of the Wizard’s Rule

Wizard’s First Rule warns that lies become powerful only when believed.
For generations, the corporate state has used that rule to enslave the minds of the people — through fear, taxation, and political division.

Now, that spell is breaking.
Through education, lawful process, and unity under the Constitution, men and women are returning to their rightful jurisdiction — private, peaceful, and sovereign.

The living man cannot be taxed, controlled, or ruled without consent.
The Republic is not gone; it sleeps within us, waiting for “We the People” to wake up and take our place once again.

As Goodkind’s characters learned, freedom is not granted — it is claimed.
And once you see the lie for what it is, no power on earth can bind you again.
